Job Description

Our client, a national specialty contractor, is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join their growing Phoenix branch.

This entry-level role is part of a hands-on training program where you’ll gain comprehensive experience across all aspects of specialty contracting project management, focused on industrial and commercial projects, including mechanical insulation, firestop, and industrial coatings. From office work and estimating to field supervision and client interaction, you’ll learn what it truly takes to manage specialty contracting projects from start to finish.

As an Associate Project Manager, you’ll rotate between office tasks, client meetings, and job site activities—supporting field teams, preparing estimates, coordinating schedules, and making real decisions within the first few months. This role is designed for candidates who are hungry to learn, ambitious, and ready to get their hands dirty in all areas of specialty contracting project management.

This position is open due to company growth and their focus on developing future leaders. The training program is structured to accelerate your learning curve, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to become a well-rounded specialty construction professional.

If you’re eager to learn the full lifecycle of project management—from preconstruction through execution—and want a role that combines field experience, client interaction, and rapid professional development, we encourage you to apply!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a hands-on training program to learn all aspects of project management, including estimating, client interaction, and field execution
  • Assist with cost estimates and proposals using industry-standard software and construction drawings
  • Support project scheduling, labor tracking, material cost management, and margin monitoring
  • Collaborate with field crews to execute projects on time, within budget, and to client expectations
  • Build relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to foster repeat business and project success
  • Manage project documentation, change orders, billing, and client communications under guidance
  • Utilize software tools including Navisworks, Bluebeam, JD Edwards, Salesforce, and Velocity EHS
  • Apply environmental health and safety best practices to prevent incidents and maintain compliance

Requirements:

  • Recent college graduate with a degree in Construction Management or related field
  • Highly motivated, ambitious, and eager to learn all aspects of project management, including client-facing activities, preconstruction support, and business development
  • Passion for construction or specialty contracting, with a desire to build a well-rounded project management skillset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory

Salary: $65,000–$70,000 base + annual bonus

Location: Tempe, AZ (Onsite & in the field)

Travel: Frequent travel within the assigned territory

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with match, PTO, Life and AD&D, Short- and Long-Term Disability, annual performance review, and structured training program support. This role is designed for growth, with the goal of promotion to Project Manager and the opportunity to earn a larger bonus through the Field Profit Incentive program. Vehicle/mileage reimbursement is also provided.
