Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced and highly technical professional to support the deployment, management, and optimization of connected medical technologies within a clinical environment. This role is essential for ensuring seamless integration between medical devices and clinical systems, driving both patient safety and operational efficiency. You’ll serve as the go-to expert for systems integration across various diagnostic, monitoring, and therapeutic platforms, playing a critical role in technology sustainment and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical subject matter expert for a wide range of integrated medical systems and devices.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of clinical technology: from assessment, selection, and implementation to monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.
  • Oversee the installation and sustainment of device software, firmware, interfaces, databases, and network configurations.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams, IT, and third-party vendors to resolve system issues, address downtimes, and ensure performance continuity.
  • Maintain detailed records and system inventories, including architecture diagrams and integration points, for auditing and planning purposes.
  • Provide support for incident response, feature enhancement requests, and manufacturer-initiated actions such as recalls or updates.
  • Lead or participate in multiple ongoing projects involving clinical technologies, coordinating across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of healthcare technology best practices, safety standards, and regulatory changes related to connected medical systems.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to address critical system issues after hours or during weekends/holidays.

Technical Scope

You will work with and support the following types of systems and interfaces:

  • Patient monitoring platforms
  • Infusion and vital sign monitoring devices
  • EEG and perfusion systems
  • OR integration and video routing solutions
  • Cardiology ultrasound and imaging systems
  • Nurse call and environmental alert systems
  • Interactive bedside terminals and patient engagement software
  • Digital dental and gastrointestinal systems
  • DICOM-based imaging nodes and PACS
  • HL7 messaging engines and healthcare data exchange brokers
  • Electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Cerner)
  • Maintenance and asset tracking platforms (CMMS)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field — OR 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience working with integrated clinical systems or medical device administration.
  • Solid experience designing and supporting healthcare technology interfaces, especially using HL7.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server database management and structured query language.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise-grade clinical applications and systems.

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Certifications in healthcare technology management (e.g., CHTM, CBET) or IT (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco) are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with data standards like HL7, DICOM, XML, and relevant coding/scripting (Java, SQL).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs) and system security in a clinical setting.
  • Experience with common operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) in a healthcare IT context.
  • Demonstrated success in leading or managing multiple technical projects in a clinical or hospital environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills — able to lead meetings, document work thoroughly, and explain complex systems to non-technical users.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative and mission-driven environment
  • Opportunities to work with cutting-edge medical and clinical technology
  • Ongoing support for professional development and continuing education
  • A chance to make a meaningful impact on patient care through technology
