🔹 DIRECT HIRE | Director – Department of Correction & Rehabilitation 🔹
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Correction & Rehabilitation to provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and organizational direction for all correctional and rehabilitative programs and facilities.
🔻 Position Overview
The Director will oversee all departmental operations, staffing, compliance, and fiscal management. This role plays a critical part in public safety, service delivery, strategic planning, and interagency collaboration.
🔻 Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership for the Department of Correction & Rehabilitation.
- Oversee operations of all correctional and rehabilitative facilities, programs, and services.
- Supervise the Administrator of Corrections and ensure safe, efficient facility operations.
- Develop and implement strategic vision, policies, and performance goals aligned with public safety objectives.
- Direct policy, procedure, post order, and emergency plan development aligned with ACA, NCCHC & Missouri Jail Standards.
- Collaborate with health and behavioral health teams to integrate medical and treatment services.
- Partner with Municipal Court, Police Department, and community organizations to strengthen intake, booking, release, and reentry processes.
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and training for professional, trauma-informed staff.
- Manage operating and capital budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability.
- Cultivate partnerships that support rehabilitation, reentry, and alternatives to incarceration.
- Represent the department to government officials, media, and community groups.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Lead planning and transition for temporary and permanent correctional facilities.
- Foster a culture of ethics, accountability, diversity, and professional development.
🔻 Required Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of:
- Modern correctional administration practices, including direct supervision & SIM.
- Behavioral health, medical, and substance use treatment operations.
- Organizational leadership, fiscal administration, and public-sector governance.
- Jail operations laws, regulations, and detainee rights.
- Trauma-informed care, DEI, and community collaboration.
Ability to:
- Lead large multidisciplinary departments with integrity.
- Develop and implement complex operational strategies.
- Build trust with justice, healthcare, and community partners.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Make sound, evidence-based decisions under pressure.

🔻 Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years in correctional administration, law enforcement, or public-sector leadership.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior executive role.
- Experience integrating healthcare or rehabilitation programs into correctional systems preferred.
- Direct supervision of senior leaders and oversight of large departmental staff.
🔻 Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, behavioral health, leadership/management, public safety, or related field.
- Graduate degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must pass background check, psychological exam, and drug screen.
- No felony convictions.
