Job Description

Role Summary:

The Dispatcher will act as a communication point for all calls: coordinate requests, transmit messages and track vehicles. This individual would enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information.

Role Priorities / Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all route service drivers are working in/on pre-assigned routes/tasks each day
  • Answer customer calls and dispatch drivers and equipment
  • Document all calls
  • Coordinate with supervisor to allocate, schedule, and assign jobs to the workforce
  • Coordinate with the technicians, billable or non-billable ticket
  • Assign the appropriate equipment and employees to corresponding jobs
  • Enter data into computer system and keep dispatch records/logs and status reports
  • Coordinate with billing personnel
  • Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions
  • Plans and organizes appropriate work time and resource requirements
  • Use radio, phone or computer to send crews, vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations
  • Monitor the route and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize their schedule
  • Provide field units with information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements
  • Understand and identify customer safety requirements of on-site personnel and communicate to Office Manager and Ops Manager
  • Communicate all issues to Ops Manager in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability to prioritize calls according to urgency and importance
  • Have a firm understanding of logistics, routes, and associated equipment
  • Ability to remain calm and composed
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Ability to take appropriate action with little supervision
  • Results oriented and driven to complete customer jobs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Proficient computer and telephone skills
